Poly-Filled Comforters & Bedspreads
Poly-filled comforters and bedspreads are made of a variety of materials which can shrink and change in appearance when laundered. Poly-filled comforter seams may loosen in the washing/drying process. Colors may fade, therefore we recommend bringing in all pillow shams and other items that match your comforter for washing as well. Assume a 3% shrinkage will occur in cotton items. Blocking is available and will be used when applicable.
Dust Ruffles / Bed Skirts
Cleaning dust ruffles and bed skirts is recommended every 2-3 years. If your skirt is ducked, meaning it has the thin layer of ducking that lays across the box springs, the washing process may pull the seams away from the edge of the skirt. Small tears, visible thinning or pilling may also occur in the ducking, which will not in any way effect the look of your skirt on the bed.

Almost all textiles you own can be cared for and maintained at Blanc Plume. Antiques and hand-made items are always inspected and assessed before the washing process begins. The Blanc Plume professionals will let you know if they are not able to restore your items. We have restored an antique quilt that was made before the civil war and we have excellent references available.
